camel collection clothes and accessories collage headerThe hot new trend in color is the ever-chic looking hue of camel.  The color has been popular for a couple of years now but has recently experienced an explosion in popularity and right fully so. The smooth neutral tone has the unique ability to pair extremely well with nearly everything. Also something about the color steps up the perception of quality and luxury.  Add a classic camel, wool scarf to an ensemble and instantly make the look appear more expensive.

Though the color probably works best in fall, I’ve always been a firm believer in breaking a few fashion rules. I’ve gathered a couple of fabulous pieces that I thought you might be interested in adding to your collection.  Of course current Miami weather won’t permit me to rock that amazing wool cape but some of my friends up north are still dealing with some pretty chilly weather and could totally go for a piece like that. That is the only reason I envy you northern friends.  Have fun sporting your warm camels. I think I’ll make a move on those caged sandals.  Yup, don’t mind if I do.

Favorite looks top 4 Fashion Week Fall Winter 2015 - 2016

Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2015/2016 came to an end last week. My apologies, I would have reported sooner but sometimes life throws monkey wrenches in your plans and sometimes those monkey wrenches come in the form of an adorable 3 year old, walking contagion/petri dish. But “one (flu) don’t stop no show.” Anyway in this case I guess I’m just fashionably late and better late than never. Lets get down to what I loved.

Herve Leger top 4 Fashion Week Fall Winter 2015 - 2016

Hervé Léger by Max Azria

I wanted to contact someone. Get someone on the phone and get me these outfits immediately. Who’s my contact at Leger? Huh… I don’t have a contact at Leger? All right fine but if I did and also had an obscene amount of cash to spend, I would totally be on the phone with someone working on getting these looks into my closet. This was my favorite collection by far. Each look came sashaying down the runway like abstract art. These brilliantly crafted pieces completely stole my heart. I want it all.

Cushnie et Ochs top 4 Fashion Week Fall Winter 2015 - 2016

Cushnie et  Ochs

My second fave was Cushnie et Ochs. All of these looks were made to compliment a woman’s body. I love designs that focus on femininity and highlight a woman’s beautiful curves. Everything in this collection was near perfection also.

Derrick Lam top 4 Fashion Week Fall Winter 2015 - 2016

Derrick Lam

Derrick Lam played to my inner Olivia Pope with a wonderful assortment of coats and winter-chic looks. I almost want to book a ticket to somewhere cold just so I can have a reason to sport some of the looks showcased in his collection; almost.

Oscar De La Renta top 4 Fashion Week Fall Winter 2015 - 2016

Oscar de la Renta

One should expect nothing less than sheer elegance and class when you deal with Oscar and this showing was no exception. I’m partial to the white ensembles that came prancing down the runway but the collection offered up lots of beautiful, classic looks. This collection was superb but of course you already knew that.

I should also mention:

The row orange crock jacket3

This jacket from The Row by designers Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen was a standout piece amongst everything that stood out to me at fashion week on the whole. I didn’t care much for the collection overall but this unusual piece merits special recognition. It’s bold, and edgy but can still be worn conservatively. I Love. That is all.

Carolina Herrera Ready to Wear Fall Winter 2015 in New York

This look from Carolina Herrera was also a standout to me. I didn’t get Carolina’s collection this year. I just… I didn’t get it. The oversized boxy collection just did not resonate with me.  To add insult to injury they wore flats the entire first half of the show. This look however, made a great impression. Add it to my cart please. Yes.

faux cape faux arms jacket

Let’s talk about the trends we noticed on the runways. The jacket/cape not jacket has officially become a thing.  I don’t know who to fully attribute this to. Probably fashion bloggers (myself included) who wear their jackets over their shoulders because it’s the thing to do or Olivia Pope (because it all comes back to Olivia Pope) and her famous capes. I first noticed it at the BCBG Max Azria show. I usually love BCBG Max Azria but this year’s Aztec/grandmas throw vibe threw me off. I did take note of this weird creation where it looked like a normal jacket worn in a caped fashion with additional holes for the arms. Turns out that would not be the last I would see of this novel idea.

Other trends:

  • There were tons fur stoles and fur elements.
  • Designers tapped into their love for the 70’s. Flared pants, tweed and hues of brown were in abundance
  • Fringe details were all the rage.
  • ...and yes crop tops and culottes are still in.

That’s my round up. Looking forward to having a powerfully stylish fall and winter.

Thank you for reading. Now… “Let the power moves continue”.

Bad Ass Business black and white work look with purple

Some times you just feel a little badass. For instances like those, you need a look that reflects that mood. I don’t do dark colors to often but when I’m feeling especially fierce, a look like this is right up my ally.  I would probably add in a touch of purple for just a bit color but nothing too attention grabing. How could you not be ready to kick ass and take names in an ensemble like this?

Fall for Pastels collage

I thought I’d create something for fall that says “I love fall fashion but I also love spring colors.” This poncho gives me the warm and fuzzies. Paired with touches of black, this outfit is totally having a fall/spring identity crisis and I love it.
