I'm at it again with the ties. I can't help it; I love them. There something about taking a masculine piece of apparel and making it sassy that I find super appealing. So I originally had the idea of sporting a tie with a fitted white shirtdress but upon thinking about it, I decided that maybe it wouldn't be a look that would work for work. I just pictured myself looking like I had slept over my boyfriends house and had just decided to walk around the office pants-less in his white dress shirt. Not the best visual for the workplace. So when I found this option from Armani Exchange I thought it would be a great alternative. As you know I love color, so I paired the flowy white dress with a pop of color by adding the super hot pink pumps and matching pink tie. A little silver bracelet and tie clip complete this part business, part fabulous look.

For my outfit for the NU You Empowerment Brunch I decided to combine fun and flirty with classic and feminine. I had this dainty piece sitting in the back of my closet for a while now. When I heard about this event, I immediately thought this skater dress would be perfect. It’s got a vibe that says brunch in an old New York feel that’s a little bit Audrey Hepburn and a little Sarah Jessica Parker.

I turned down the traditional and turned up the memorable with not-so-subtle pops of pink, actually, hot pink. I love throwing a black and white outfit for a loop with the addition of a bold, unapologetic color. I borrowed the ribbon belt from another dress and can't quite remember where I picked up the little clutch but the contrast of these items and my pink shoes, and necklace against the black came together perfectly to create a nearly effortless ensemble that still demands attention.

In one of my posts last week I discussed wearing white after Labor Day and all of the ridiculous stigma that can come with a fashion choice of this magnitude. I stood up for the right to wear white year-round without judgment so it’s only fitting that I risk perceived “fashion fail” and hit you with this little gem today.

As you can clearly see I’m wearing white…after Labor Day but what I love about this look are the added sprinkles of red and gold. For me, the white and red ensemble subtly conjures up nostalgia of fashion of the late 50’s. I love the fashions from that era and have a feeling my polka dots and pedal pushers would have fit right in.

Fun fact: I wasn’t feeling the accessories I was initially wearing and decided to try and find something else before we shot these images. Disappointed, my only option at the time was a nearby Payless. Imagine my surprise when I found the perfect set (go figure).  There are hidden gems everywhere folks! The necklace and bracelet set are sort of the poor man’s take on vintage Chanel charm jewelry but hey, I am the poor man so it works.

If you work in Corporate America or if working in Corporate America is a goal of yours, it's time to embrace the idea of working in a corporate jungle. I put this look together as a tribute to my current place in the jungle.

I love the idea of combining a leopard print with a bold solid color. I think a vivid shade of green or purple would have worked just as well. I accessorized with some gold pieces and a black and gold quilted bag that mimics the style of the Prada Lux Saffiano Pyramid bag.

My wildlife-influenced attire is a fashionable embodiment of my day-to-day role in this corporate jungle. Complete with king (CEO), packs (cliques and teams) and predators (self-explanatory), this jungle at times, is certainly survival of the fittest but I manage to have fun with it. Look good - feel good. Feel good - do good.

I did a lengthy stint in New York a few years back and during my time in The Big City I was able to pick up on a few implicit fashion rules; principles that would generally be considered a given if you were to ask any “real New Yorker”.

Now, when it comes to sporting bright colors, I’m a Miami girl to the core, winter be damned. So I’ve never been too keen on wearing an abundance of dark colors. However, for me, dark turtlenecks have always had a certain je ne sais quoi.

For this NY-esque look, I ornamented my ensemble with some of my favorite gold accessories. Also note how the hem on the pants was also the perfect length for showing off the patent leather collar on my leather point toe shoes. All together a classic look that could easily be considered a standard in any 5th Avenue townhouse.
